OUR BEGINNINGS WERE HUMBLE
Hatches garage was founded by James Hatch senior in 1919 after serving in the Tank Corps in the First World War.
He returned home to Bramshaw and rented a small work shop behind Moodys Butchers in West Wellow.
In 1921 James Hatch went on to purchase the land where the Garage is situated now.
He started doing car & bicycle repairs, and was a Raleigh and Sunbeam main cycle dealer until the late 40’s.
He started selling petrol from the late 20’s, and then also Diesel just after the Second World War.
James continued to run the garage and was joined by his son Jim in the 50’s.
Today the garage is still family run and continues to sell fuel but has now expanded to becoming one of the largest suppliers of Solid Fuels and Kiln Dried Firewood in the area.
The world has changed considerably in the last 100 years since Hatches Garage was first opened, but now as then we still serve you.
